What is that lump under the carpet?
From my position as a homeopath and healer, and someone who has worked with energies for most of my life, I have seen and experienced how each and every one of us is unique and individual.
As a homeopathic prescriber, I sit, listen and observe how and what the person in front of me is saying. I hear about how they are feeling physically, emotionally, mentally, professionally and spiritually. As I sense their energy some kind of a connection begins to build. Similar things happen when I’m acting as a Reiki Practitioner, again I sense and tune into the energy centres and the more subtle energies from within and around a person. I am a shamanic healer, this means I journey with the participant and feel their story, the ether of their experiences and what their life (or lives) has left them with. Usually, people who come to see me will experience a combination of these approaches depending on what is needed at that particular moment in their life.
It is my absolute belief that no two people can be the same, so there is no way they should be treated in the same way. This is one of the many reasons that homeopathy resonated with me so profoundly all those years ago.
Having said that I accept that in the case of a pandemic an awful lot of symptoms will be similar from person to person, particularly on the physical front, so there will be a repetition of certain remedies needed. I am thrilled to see both Cuba and India actively using homeopathy as a preventative medicine for all, handing remedies out to all members of the community including their key workers.
More recently I have been hearing marvellous stories of people who have made it through this virus and have returned home. These people, from the bottom of their hearts, are truly grateful to be alive. It is so wonderful to see how the important things in life become clear to individuals in situations like these. Living with no future plans, no desires to take action, just living in the present.. for now. I do wonder however about how all these people are feeling mentally and emotionally and who is there to help them once they fully recover physically.
And so too, the hospital staff, doing what they do, caring, holding hands, seeing things we wouldn’t want to and then doing it day after day. How do they keep going? And when will they get time to process what they have been through? They will have witnessed things that will remain with them for a lifetime. They could need physical, emotional, mental and spiritual support, and this is where I feel holistic health practitioners like myself may be able to help, by providing treatment on all levels.
I know from my own life experience that often we don’t allow ourselves to feel while we are the eye of the storm. We are being driven by the adrenalin and are on a constant state of alert, waiting to carry out the next response. It is only once the storm dissipates that we take a breath and our emotions have the freedom to bubble to the surface. Not only are we physically depleted, we are emotionally drained as well. So what happens then?
I predict that this is a time when perhaps the second stage of recovery will be the longer journey, but also an essential one to enable those affected to fully process, transform, find gratitude and eventually let go. From a healing point of view, things that are brushed under the carpet so to speak can cause problems in the future. The lump under the carpet is something we will continue to trip over until we are done with it, lift the carpet and really look at the hidden problem. I wonder how many people will turn to medical drugs to try help them through this, maybe choosing anti-depressants or beta-blockers to help numb it all out. And how many will decide to take the time and reach a true place of healing by not choosing the quick fix, but making the journey to true health, naturally, with the support they need.
My hope for all of you is that you reach out and get any help you need to enable you to fully move on and live your healthiest and happiest life! Maybe you will need talking therapy, or relaxation techniques or to take yourself off on a retreat. Whatever calls to you, please listen to your own individuality and do it, for your mind, body and soul.
From my heart to yours, Polly
